Spey Lodge is a mid-century lodge which oozes 60s style and is set in extensive grounds within the precious Rothiemurchus Forest in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park while being a five minute drive from Aviemore. Share the joy of having a holiday with family and friends in a lodge which has been cherished and lovingly maintained by the Fursman family since it was designed and built in 1967. This delightful home from home in a precious Site of Special Scientific Interest is surrounded by nature in The Caledonian pine forest. Be one of the first to see the beavers which have been introduced and are making their homes at the Milton Burn which flows past Spey Lodge as it makes it way to the River Spey. Surrounding the house there is a multitude of nature including much bird life, deer, pine martins and red squirrels. This is a magical spot which is loved by guests who return year after year.

This unique lodge which sleeps 10 and has a octagonal shaped living room with ceiling beams reaching up to a central glass cupola and is set in an elevated position overlooking the forest. An extraordinary living room has kitchen and more formal dining spaces, a well equipped kitchen and seating around the wood-burning stove and a relaxed TV viewing area. Walk onto the south facing veranda and outside seating and dining area surrounding the newly installed hot tub for seven people. While relaxing in the warmth and luxury of the hot tub you can take in the wonders of nature.

There are five individually styled bedrooms which have TVs and ethernet ports for internet use There are two rooms with double beds and three twin rooms. After enjoying a day in the country rejuvenate in a bath or shower in one of the three contemporary bathrooms. Beds are made up for guests and towels are provided. Hand soap and moisturiser are provided in the bathrooms.

The lodge has a wood burning stove. Logs are available to order from us in advance of your stay at Spey Lodge.

Practicalities of being on holiday are served by a drying room, uitlity room with washing machine and tumble dryer. For those with bikes, there is a newly built and insulated storage shed.

There is much to do in the area and Spey Lodge close to many . From the house, there are walks and cycle paths into the Caledonian pine forest to Loch an Mhor (Lily Loch), Loch an Eilien and throughout the Rothiemurchus estate.

Aviemore village is served by a railway station and national buses to Inverness and to Edinburgh and Glasgow. Aviemore is the shopping hub for the area with supermarkets - Tesco and Aldi and many outdoor equipment shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants.

Up to three well behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement however please be aware that the lodge is in the forest so there is not an enclosed garden. No other pets are permitted.

This is not party house - no hen or stag parties are permitted.

The Cairngorm National Park is a wonderful, scenic area where you can enjoy outdoor life to the full. In the winter you have a couple of ski area available and there are plenty of mountains to tackle all year around. For the younger members of the family there is the Highland Wildlife Park and the Loch Garten Nature Reserve, or they can try their hand at Go Ape.

Excellent location, forest walks just outside, dogs loved it! 5 minutes from Aviemore by car so although quiet area facilities within easy reach. Sitting outside in the sunshine and not bothered by midges. Would recommend the property.

location was perfect for outdoor activities. Beautiful, spacious accommodation.
Wash a little dusty and the dirt from the previous tenants was still in the trash cans.

Public - Lovely spacious home in a fantastic location. We had a wonderful family get together and enjoyed the peaceful setting and spacious living area. 3 modern bathrooms, the rainfall showers were much appreciated which meant no fighting over bathroom access. We were a group of 8, very comfortable.
Private - We loved our stay, thanks for prompt supply of missing knives. Have emailed Dunpark re some property issues that need attention but did not want to include in our feedback. Wonderful family sized home for our get together in a fantastic location. Many thanks

What a wonderful retreat for young and old. Seven of us found lots to do or just relaxed together in the surrounding woods or in the large but cosy space. Beautiful views from EVERY window. Brilliant host provided help to recover our car from the snow! 😁👌🏽

Public: Overall we had a lovely stay and there are some great walks from the house. Very comfortable bedrooms, but only 2 double beds, not 3 as stated in the spec. Well appointed shower rooms and bathroom. Furniture in the sitting room area is pretty tired and there is not enough seating for 10 unless some people sit on the beanbags or on dining chairs. The projector TV system is very good though. The kitchen has a lot of excellent features, including a multi-burner stove with two ovens, and it was great to have the use of a food mixer, liquidiser and stick blender. The insulated teapot and cafetière are a lovely idea, but each only has a capacity of 3-4 cups and the toaster is only a 2-slice one so not really convenient for breakfast for a large party. There were plenty of cutlery and wine glasses, though limited quantities of tumblers and crockery. Be careful of what, and where, you put food items in the wall cabinets - my chocolate was melted by the heat from the light under them.
Private: Hello John Thank you for coming to fix the radiator on Saturday morning - the room was much more comfortable afterwards. The steps up to the house were very dark when we arrived, and it was difficult to see the lockbox settings - it would be helpful to have some form of external lighting, especially for winter arrivals. Perhaps a motion-activated light? It would also be helpful to have instructions on where to find the keypad for the security alarm. Regards Margaret”

Comfortable lodgings with a well stocked kitchen. It was ideal for a large group stay.

Liked · Great location only 5-10 minutes drive from Aviemore, there was even a fab farmshop on the way.

Beautiful spacious and comfortable lodge in stunning setting, very convenient for lots of walks and activities. Short drive to shops in Aviemore. Secluded and private. Great kitchen big cooker and Fridge - used to cook every day for 8 people , lovely terrace for sitting out and relaxing. Washer and drier , x3 great shower/bathrooms. Very good WIFI and great choice for TV channels on the projector. [The] beds were very creaky in master bedroom and very short beds in 2nd bedroom. Mattresses were comfortable though so not a significant issue. Some decor and furniture a bit dated but all very clean and comfortable.

As regular visitors to Aviemore area the house was a fantastic and private base, and despite no fences great for the dogs. Loved the living area and particularly the terrace. Beds comfortable and great walks from the house to the loch. Overall a great find, thanks!

This property is superb. Set in truly beautiful surroundings tucked away in the forest within 25 minutes walk of Aviemore. Very spacious - huge very well equipped kitchen and large dining table where everyone can eat together. Very child friendly with a cinema room set up in the living area, with bean bags (which caused endless entertainment for the kids aged 2-11). 5 spacious bedrooms and 3 separate bathrooms. Lovely spacious outside terrace area overlooking the forest. Kids were in the little stream every night swimming. This houses really had everything we needed & is located in an area where you really will never run out of things to do - within a 10 minute drive of Loch Morlich (beach, swimming, watersports, cycling), endless forest trails and many other outdoor activities. Landmark and the Safari park are also nearby. Thoroughly recommend it. Only tiny criticism is that there is limited ventilation in the kitchen living area - only a couple of small windows to open in the kitchen and the door onto the terrace (which was not ideal for a 2 year old hell bent on any form of escape!!). We had a very toasty week while we were there and the main living area/dining room/kitchen did get very warm.

Spey Lodge is a great house for a family holiday. We loved the big room with projector TV (that was bright enough to work in the daytime) and space to play inside. Lovely kitchen and fire. The updated bathrooms are great. We really enjoyed the walks into the forest from the house and the proximity to Rothiemurchus activities.

We went with a group of four people to have a weekend in the highlands. The house is really good, with many things that create a great space of holidays: projector to watch movies, everything to cook, good bedrooms, great sound system, beautiful outside spaces and it is possible to walk to many spaces from the house. Everything was clean and safe.
